IGNOU Practical Status or Marks Not Showing: What to Check First

Ankush

Quick answer

If IGNOU practical marks are not showing, first confirm that the practical was actually completed and recorded at the correct Study Centre or examination venue. Then check whether the mark has been transmitted and whether it appears in the Grade Card. Practical attendance, marks submission and Grade Card reflection are separate stages.

Check the practical in this order

  1. Confirm participation.
Make sure you attended or completed the correct practical for the correct course code and session. Keep any attendance, schedule or acknowledgement available to you.
  2. Ask whether marks were entered or sent.
IGNOU has an official marks transmission status for assignment, project and practical awards. The page states that status is reflected after marks or grades are transmitted by Study Centres or Regional Centres after evaluation.
  3. Check the Grade Card.
Use the official Grade Card to see whether the practical component has reached your academic record.
  4. Escalate only with the mismatch clearly stated.
If the local record says your practical mark was sent but the Grade Card remains blank, save both pieces of evidence before contacting IGNOU.

Start with the Study Centre record

For many practical courses, the local centre is the best first place to confirm whether your attendance and marks were recorded correctly. Ask about the exact course code. If you completed several practicals, do not send a vague request saying only “practical marks missing”.

IGNOU also operates internal systems for practical marks submission by Regional Centres and Schools. Students do not need access to those staff systems, but their existence is a reminder that completing the practical and seeing it in the Grade Card are not the same event.

Use the official status pages

Check the Assignment/Project/Practical Marks Transmission Status and the Grade Card. If your practical course appears on the transmission side but not on the Grade Card, keep dated screenshots.

Situation Best first check
You attended but have no local confirmation Study Centre or practical venue record
Centre says marks were sent Transmission status, then Grade Card
Wrong course code appears Programme/course details and local submission record
Other components are complete but practical is blank Practical-specific query with proof

What proof should you keep?

  • Practical schedule or hall ticket where relevant.
  • Attendance or acknowledgement available from the centre.
  • Course code and programme code.
  • Screenshot of the transmission status, if the course appears there.
  • Screenshot of the Grade Card showing the missing practical component.

Study Centre, Regional Centre or iGRAM?

If the issue is about attendance or a local practical record, start with the centre that conducted it. If the centre confirms that the marks were sent and the academic record still does not reflect them, use the practical-marks contact route listed by IGNOU. The IGNOU contact directory lists a separate practical marks contact. If normal follow-up does not solve the problem, iGRAM can be used to lodge a grievance.

What to do next

If more than one course component is missing, use the Grade Card diagnosis guide when it is published. For programme details and other student guides, use Programmes, IGNOU Guides and the Vidyanik Blog.
