IGNOU Project Marks Not Showing: Status Checks, Delays and Next Steps
Quick answer
If your IGNOU project marks are not showing, check the project in four stages: correct submission, acknowledgement, project status or marks record, and Grade Card. Do not assume every IGNOU programme follows the same synopsis, viva or submission rule. Programme-specific project guidelines matter.
Project marks decision tree
- Was the report submitted through the correct route?
Keep the official acknowledgement, upload proof, postal proof or Regional Centre receipt that applies to your programme and session. - Is a project status or marks record available?
Check IGNOU’s Project Marks Status and the broader marks transmission status. - Has the Grade Card updated?
Check the project course code in the official Grade Card. - Does your programme have another required component?
Some projects have a viva or specific approval requirement. Confirm this in the current programme/project guide before raising a marks complaint.
Confirm the submission itself
The first useful document is your project submission proof. IGNOU’s June 2026 online project-upload instructions tell learners to use the prescribed submission route and keep the required project material together. For another session, check the upload instructions issued for that session. The instructions also make clear that incomplete submissions can create problems.
Check that the project cover details match your academic record: enrolment number, programme, course code and Regional Centre. If you uploaded a file, keep the acknowledgement and the final PDF you submitted. If your programme required physical submission, keep the receipt or postal tracking.
Separate receipt from evaluation
| Stage | What it proves |
|---|---|
| Submission acknowledgement | The report was sent or received through a particular route. |
| Project status / transmission record | A later processing or marks stage is visible in an IGNOU system. |
| Grade Card entry | The academic record has reflected the project component. |
| Viva result, where required | A separate programme-specific component may also be complete. |
Programme-specific rules matter
Do not use one project course as a rule for all IGNOU projects. For example, MMPP-001 in the MBA programme requires synopsis approval before the project work is taken up. BCA_NEW BCSP-165 has its own project structure and evaluation requirements. Other programmes can use different routes, forms and approval processes.
That is why a missing project mark should always be checked against the exact course code and current guideline.
What to keep before you escalate
- Project submission acknowledgement or delivery proof.
- Final submitted PDF or a copy of the physical report.
- Correct programme and project course code.
- Screenshot of project status/transmission, if available.
- Screenshot of the Grade Card.
- Synopsis approval or viva record only if your programme requires it.
IGNOU lists separate contacts for project marks in its contact directory. If the normal project-marks route does not resolve a documented mismatch, you can use iGRAM.
After you have checked the official status, you can browse the IGNOU Projects catalogue, see your programme, or use IGNOU Guides. These links are for the next step, not a replacement for checking your official project record.
Common questions
Does a project acknowledgement mean the marks should already be visible?
No. It confirms submission, not final evaluation or Grade Card updating.
Do all IGNOU projects need synopsis approval?
No universal rule should be assumed. Check the exact project guideline for your programme and course code.
